FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is an athletic trainer?
An athletic trainer is a certified and licensed healthcare professional that specializes in injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletes. Athletic trainers are also educated in emergency care, clinical diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention. At Hackettstown High School, Shea is our full time athletic trainer. We are also fortunate to have two per diem athletic trainers: Caroline David and Venita Prudenti.
Is an athletic trainer the same as a personal trainer or strength and conditioning coach?
No. There is a large difference between the education, skillset, and job descriptions between the two careers.
When can I or my student-athlete see an athletic trainer?
Due to the athletic schedule our athletic trainers are often not in one location depending on the time of day, season, event schedule, weather, etc. The best time to see them is directly after school in the athletic training room (in the new gym). If you or your student athlete has any questions or concerns the best way to get in contact is to email Shea directly at shannigan@hackettstown.org.
