everyone my name is mr. Freeman and welcome to Innovations and fill this is a great class I'm really excited to teach a q in Hackettstown high school for 24 years and I started the program about 20 years ago and we now have five sections of film different courses together for this particular class Innovations deals with major changes in film history what were what tech need moved this art form along so again this would be the the major Innovations of course there are so many to cover will look at the most significant ones that are considered historically important what are Innovative element what to look at important directors and app so some of the film features some people were really stand out in the industry and in film history into will take a look at their lives and some of their work in more detail Styles types of shots lighting shadow color of course experimental shop all related to how these thing for Innovative for the particular particular time I will be reading and writing criticism and will be reading from a variety of sources so we'll look at some critics reviews of film and Dorian fuses well of innovation. We're going to be looking Soviet Montage start with this is film from the 1920s a famous work by a director in Russia that featured a new type of editing that it never been done before rata cliche so will consider sequence from the film clip of it and his work and this will give you a sense of what the course deals with some Space Oddity this film is famous for many reasons and this is important for it use of special effects primarily there many other things to philosophy and science the future of Science in spirituality and there's a lot in it and it's highly experimental film very interesting will be watching a part of it and again will be looking at parts that will give you a feel for wife historically American Film Network styles of getting highly Innovative for that option if you've never seen it before the wonderful Syfy work that has multi layers of storyline embedded within it and it's complex and requires a lot of deep thinking this is the story of a boy growing up and it has the same actors in it over a 12 year. And that is a great Innovation and one thing that makes it sound so famous another Innovation Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind it's a romance basically because it is a romantic comedy that really turned upside down in a typical romantic comedy the voice of the intro what will be looking at butt and finally the last two tone to highlight the Lord of the Rings this is primarily special effect will look at several different techniques that were using the highly Innovative watching all of it really affected the 10-hour fill because there are three parts to it will walk part of the first one and it will give you a good sense of going to be important techniques that were used and finally Spirited Away with important and inventive storytelling and characters and silver all weirdness and the animation style anime from Japan and Spirited Away is a landmark film it to Major film dorkly generally really like this film so if you have any questions please feel free to contact me by email be happy to respond and I'm looking forward to seeing you in the fall
