PEER AMBASSADORS

About This Program
During the spring of 2023, Hackettstown High School (HHS) students had the opportunity to be trained in The Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) Peer Leadership Program titled, “A World of Difference.” The training consisted of three full days of interactive and collaborative activities. ADL describes it as, “Opportunities to develop leadership skills through anti-bias projects in their schools and communities.  Young people who become Peer Leaders develop the knowledge, skills, and motivation to effectively challenge name-calling, putdowns, and insensitive remarks to promote inclusive environments.” The goals of the training were:
  • Provide students with opportunities to develop and practice leadership and social action skills
  • Provide a forum where young people can learn about and discuss bias and discrimination
  • Use positive peer influence to promote healthy, supportive, and respectful educational environments
  • Develop social responsibility, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through action-based projects
