Hackettstown High School's informational videos to start the year for those new to the district I'm Kyle saw snow with the principal of Hackettstown High School delivering long messages like the start of the Year announcements I like to provide different options for parents and Guardians review the information everything discussed during this video as well as my other videos is also outlined in my welcome back letter but due to the size of a letter I've decided to make several smaller shorter videos to make it easier for you to find exactly what you're looking for without a mine you have the option to read my letter watch a video or do both okay let's dive right into it this video specifically the topics discussed is a review of the 20 21 22 bell schedule what students and parents should expect that arrival breakfast and dismissal visitors should expect when entering a Dallas campus and then what the first 2 days of school are early dismissal days on I-29 through are going to look like for our students so on the screen in front of you you see our schedule bell schedule has transitioned back your typical 6. Day that occurred prior to last school year 2020 2021 while reviewing the schedule you may notice to big changes for parents that were here at that time for those in the new with us you wouldn't notice these changes there's a Richmond time that has been added to periods one and. For that means that one out of every four days students will spend additional time with each one of their teachers this means our this time will be used for academic support so where to find curricular expectations and science labs which is something I'm very excited about and secondly in order to maintain 3 feet in lunch a third-class our third lunch. Has been added to the schedule what's included on the schedule of the early dismissal can late arrival times the schedule may seem confusing two parents that have never used it but I promise you your students pick it up very quickly to schedule allow students to see the same teacher at three different times during the and also gives them one day off from seeing the class as you can see him daily class rotation Block in one afternoon blocker dropped each day but are seeing the very next day and that's right here so here's our daily rotation today 1 they're going to see blocks 1 2 3 5 6 7 and then you notice that block form block 8 have dropped off the schedule the next day you would think we would start with a day too but we don't we start with whatever. Being picked up that day that's why you see a day for because we're picking up the block that we lost and it goes for 1/2 and then we pick up 8 and then it's five 6 the next is a day 3 and so on and so forth so students still have eight classes but only see six the what some of the benefits to the schedule is they see the teacher at a different time each day in the rotation so on day one if I had math. A block one if I had my math class I see you bright and early at 7:50 in the morning before I see him at 9 on a day 3 I see him at 10 and then on the day too I don't have that math class so give students an opportunity is at Dynamic a relationship especially if you're not bored what time is it right for you but it also allows them a little break when every 4 days next let's focus on student arrival breakfast and dismissal last year we were four to re-evaluate our arrival procedures and after further review at the say some of the stuff we put in place I did during much enjoy so while riding this is what you should expect students are permitted to enter the building no earlier than 7:00. I am masks required as a state mandate and that's something that all students need to wear until further notice comes right now as a public school New Jersey we are required to wear masks masks on ready to go 7:15 there will not be any type of your checks taken this year outside of school building students can immediately enter the building call survival didn't this is one of those changes I talked about us arrivals going to occur in the back of the building games that last year for covid-19 significantly and only did it allow us to extend our lane but it also clear will be designated with Combs and around the sidewalk all the way up to the side of yard so at any point during that time you're able to drop your spirit son or daughter off and then pull out of the lane and do what you need to do regarding arrival and dismissal just one of the noted like to make I would really like parents to take into consideration not dropping off in our student parking lots on picking up in the student parking lot as well as our visitor spots and the handicap spots in dropping off and then the student parking lots quite often causes use with our student drivers and you know as well as I they need to be focusing on the road more than anything else so I don't want any distractions for them as they come into our lot also applies if you're pulling into one of our visitor spots just to drop off and you're pulling back out everybody behind you in line at causes delays so I'm going to ask you to please use those like that but designated koehnlein accordingly when dropping off and picking up regarding breakfast breakfast will be served each day in the Materia from 7:20 until 7:45 a.m. students must sit three feet apart while eating breakfast and are not permitted to bring breakfast to the first block now let's talk about this missile dismissal occurs at 2:48 if you're a bus student you have 5 minutes to get to the bus at 2:53 the bus line up and pick up will occur next to the auditorium so we're in the morning we're going all the way back the new gym in the afternoon I'll be right up against the auditorium we do that because kids exit out the front of the building and it's much faster for a bus company and kids getting on the bus call other students will utilize the main entrance to exit and for that reason we will shorten our pickup Lane so in the morning where I said it rolled all the way around the auditorium and the afternoon will shorten it to the senior parking lot which allows the other two three four five hundred kids to walk out with doors not have to worry about being right there it's just a much smoother process for them to be able to get to where they need to go let's discuss visitor procedures visitors parents and Guardians route me to Hackettstown High School visit we just asked that were made aware of you coming and that an appointment be made in advance especially if you need to see an administrator or staff member school policy is business in the school and with that in mind and dealing with our social distancing guidelines we're going to try our best to not schedule any appointments any appointments past or before 8 in the visitors must have a schedule appointment and must wear masks when they show up all visitors will be required to present a driver's license or a state-issued identification card in order to receive that back and then visitors a lot nurse badge during school examination so please know that unless it's approved by ministration guests are coming in during school at exams or any other time that we deem necessary for the safety of our students and staff Kelly will be an emergency procedure is previous year or lock down in the back uation of education system if you walk up to the building you will notice that there's lights ready to go on the outside of the building on side of the wall by the auditorium in the back of the building if you have an appointment you get out of the vehicle and you see that light flashing on the front of the building that should be an indicator for you to go back to your car and wait until it's cleared and for you to come in the building that means building is currently locked and they're not letting anyone in okay now final slides this is what your students can expect on the first day of school September 2nd is an Earl dismissal day so there's no lunch and then we'll have four block classes so we're not doing our normal rotation because it's not normal day the first and is he block 125 bucks Xbox that's the end of this presentation and I encourage you to check out some of the other videos I create
